Veterinarian Technical Certificate Dual Credit Class

There is a possibility of a Veterinarian Technical Certificate being offered next school year. If you are interested please be sure you meet the criteria below. Please email Ms. Seidel in the Guidance Office or stop by to get your name on the list.  Please Note:  This program is NOT Guaranteed to be offered.

Students in Grade 11 can be eligible if enrolled in 20 level courses.

Students applying must be on track to complete by the end of Grade 12 the
below courses:
 Biology 30, Chemistry 30 or Science 30, Math 20-1 or 20-2, English Language Arts 30-1 or 30-2
Students must have completed:
 HCS3000 Workplace Safety Systems
Students must demonstrate the below student behaviors currently in high
school:
 Excellent attendance
 Strong organization of time and homework completion
 Reliability to follow through with commitments

If offered this will occur for the entire school year with some portions being offered online and other full days taking place at Olds College.

Description of the Program

Become a valued member in a veterinary practice with the Veterinary Technical Assistant program. This program introduces you to the veterinary industry and animal care practices needed for an entry-level position in the animal health field. Working with small animals, you will receive hands-on learning experience with useful principles and procedures of the veterinary industry. 
Learning from Registered Veterinary Technician instructors and veterinary professionals, you will gain skills in patient preparation, animal handling, and veterinary equipment and instrumentation knowledge. You will also learn alongside Animal Health Technology and Veterinary Medical Receptionist students in the animal hospital, providing a real industry environment scenario.
